One of the things that makes the hubby and I "work" is our ability to find funny things in just about any situation. When one of us is stressed the other usually finds the best and quickest way to a laugh.
Yesterday, was spent in the emergency room after the hubby fell and hit his head leaving a nasty gash (he's fine) Getting him to even agree to go to the hospital is a huge undertaking. He's rightfully apprehensive of them after spending a month in one after his cancer surgery. I got him to agree and off we went. Here are some cliffs notes of the conversations that went on while we were waiting for George Clooney to arrive. FYI, sometimes in stressful situations my IQ drops a bit for comedic purposes.
ME: (looking at the supply armory that was in the room) can you believe that they lock down gauze now? Hey what's a cervical collar?
HUBBY: I don't know...
ME: Hey maybe it's one of those cone collars they put around your neck.
HUBBY: Like a dog are you serious...(laughing) Like sir we need to put this large cone around your neck so that you don't knaw on your wound..(laughing)
Hindsight: Ha Ha Technically I was right.
Hubby: Have you ever done it in a wheelchair?
Me: (laughing) nope but it sounds hot I can use this little IV thing for leverage
Nurse: "Okay sir, just take tylenol or motrin for any pain you may have, clean the wound when neccessary, and apply an antibotic ointment, and maam if you have trouble arounsing your husband please call the.....I mean um if you ummm.. If you have trouble arousing him from sleep..I mean waking him up."
Oh no nurse you had us at the first "arouse". We laughed about that one all the way home.
